What can Corona Beer teach you about leadership? There’s a lot to drink in here (pun intended) …
Corona is a crazy strong brand, as evidenced by its 25X growth over the years….and as evidenced by the simple fact that when you (or anyone) thinks Corona, you instantly think “the beach” or “escape”.
What Corona knows = all good brands are: 1) transparently simple, 2) clear and instantly understandable, and 3) consistent with unwavering reinforcement in touch point after touch point after touch point with its audience. Think about it: when in the last 25 years have you seen any touch point from Corona (TV ad, social post, bar or liquor sign, billboard, etc.) that didn’t instantly scream “the beach” or “escape”?
And this has a lot to do with you, your leadership style and how you “represent” to your team (your personal brand). Ask yourself: 1) is your personal brand transparently simple to your team? 2) is your personal brand clear and always understandable? And very importantly, 3) do you consistently and constantly reinforce what you stand for in touch point after touch point after touch point with your team? Whether you are fully aware of it or not, every 1:1 interaction, every meeting, every email communication, every text, every action, everything you say in front of the group or privately…. counts. Your team is watching your every move. The more powerfully consistent and true you are to your brand, the better. Just like Corona.
Cheers.
